[ARCHIVED] Sherman Council Reforms Recycling Program

In response to drastic changes in the global recycling market, the Sherman City Council has made several changes to the City's recycling program. The City has switched to an opt-in program, whereby each household can choose what types of waste receptacles it uses on a weekly basis - either two trash cans or one trash can and one recycle can. The form to opt-in can be found here. There is no extra charge for either option.

Additionally, the City will no longer accept glass, yard clippings, and certain kinds of plastic. Those who abuse the program will be charged a $25 special pick-up fee to have their non-recyclables hauled to the landfill. People who repeatedly attempt to recycle non-allowed items risk losing the ability to participating in the program.

For more information, please visit the City's recycling page.
