Ambulance Services
Emergency Medical Service
The Sherman Fire Department provides Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to the citizens of Sherman and portions of Grayson County. Sherman EMS provides medical care under the direction of Dr. James Frame. Personnel are certified through the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) as Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic, Intermediate or Paramedic.
Training Hours Needed
The TDSHS requires EMS personnel to acquire continuing education based on their certification level. An EMT-Basic must complete 72 hours of training within a four year certification period, an EMT-Intermediate must complete 108 hours and a Paramedic must complete 144 hours of training during a four year period. All continuing education must be certified by the TDSHS.
Sherman Ambulance
The Sherman Fire Department currently has five ambulances licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Each ambulance is a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU). That means there is a certified or licensed paramedic who can provide Advanced Life Support on that ambulance.
Services
It is our mission to provide the highest quality healthcare. Our services range from Basic First Aid to Advance Cardiac and Trauma Life Support. We provide blood pressure checks at any of the fire stations.
