In 2022, the City of Sherman began the process of updating the Zoning Ordinance in response to the request for additional flexibility in zoning districts, particularly with residential uses.
A Planning and Zoning Subcommittee was established on February 22, 2022 to review the current zoning ordinance and to recommend changes. This committee has meetings on March 8th, April 12th, May 10th, June 14th, and July 12th. In addition, a presentation of proposed changes were given to the Planning and Zoning Commission on June 21st and July 19th and to City Council on September 22nd to review the draft zoning ordinance recommendations. The zoning updates will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission on November 15th, 2022 at 5PM located at 220 W. Mulberry, Sherman, TX. If approved, the proposed zoning ordinance will be presented to City Council on December 5th, 2022.
