Environmental Code

Ordinances
To make sure our community is safe and comfortable for all residents, the Sherman City Council adopts ordinances that apply to everyone, and those ordinances are developed into a simpler version called the code.

The Environmental Code Compliance Department’s task is to make sure Sherman continues to be a great place to call home.

Responsibilities
The Environmental Code Compliance Department is responsible for enforcing codes that pertain to trash, junk, debris, litter, high grass, weeds, vegetation, obstructions, open storage, and illegal sign placement to name a few. For building code compliance issues please refer to the Developmental Services Department.
